Umphreaks look out….Umphrey’s McGee is coming back to Penn’s Peak!!

Founded in 1997, Umphrey’s McGee has really made a name for themselves in the past decade plus.  The Chicago based band set their sights on becoming one of the premier live bands on the touring circuit and their dreams have come true.  They have headlined numerous festivals (Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, to name two) and continue to sell out shows from coast to coast.  They have even toured in Europe and Japan.  They are doing all that they can to get their improvised rock sound out to their adoring fans. 

Mantis is, an insect with an exceptional ability to see nearly 360° in any direction, the Greek word for prophet and, most importantly, the truly epic 2009 release by Umphrey’s McGee.  The album released on January 20, 2009, amid all the other fanfare going on that day.  The album consists entirely of material never previously performed on the road.  They wanted to keep up the mystique and allow it to be a truly new experience for die-hard Umphrey’s McGee fans.  Mantis was recorded over 20 months, in a very relaxed fashion and the band hails it as their finest produced album to date.  Umphrey’s jumped into the 21st century with this album, because it came with a plethora of downloadable bonus content; including demos, live tracks, alternate takes and so much more.  This album also utilized the innovative PUSH™ technology by Digital Insert.  This allowed the album to continue delivering bonus material throughout 2009 via a site that can only be accessed with a physical or digital copy of the album.  Umphrey’s McGee is one band that truly works with their fans (Umphreaks as they refer to themselves) to bring them the greatest Umphrey’s McGee experience possible.  While on tour this year, Umphrey’s vows to play more two-set shows and longer shows, as requested by their fans.
