Bringing the Jam Band Music back to Penn’s Peak, Melvin Seals and JGB!!

Penn’s Peak is proud to announce Melvin Seals and JGB on Friday, March 26th 2010, at 8:00 pm.

Melvin Seals is best known for his friendship and musical partnership with cultural icon Jerry Garcia. He has spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band and in doing so helped pioneer what has now become “Jam Band Music.” Melvin continues to bring his unique brand of melodic flavor to the stage with his latest projects, Vitamin B-3 and The Mix, Melvin Seals JGB Band and Melvin Seal Rhythm Factory.

The JGB consists of Pete Lavezzoli on drums, Stu Allen on guitar, Jimmy Tebeau on bass and Shirley Starks and Cheryl Rucker on back up vocals. Stu has a great eagerness to improvise which helps in making every performance unique. He has made extensive contributions to the jam band music scene and is a founding member of The Jones Gang, Minneapolis’ premier Grateful Dead tribute band. When he has a little free time, you can still catch him lending his talent to The Jones Gang. Jimmy has, amazingly enough, played over 2500 shows since 1990 featuring the music of Jerry Garcia, and he still continues today with the JGB. The music festival series Schwagstock was created by Jimmy and held in Salem, MO every summer at Camp Zoe. Camp Zoe is a 400 acre festival site and campground that draws 3000 to 7500 people per event in the summer months. Pete, like the others, also started out playing in a Grateful Dead tribute band. He has been playing with Crazy Fingers since 1990, but he is also involved in a plethora of other projects as well. He is a respected music historian and has had 2 books published, he is a professional narrator for the US Library of Congress and an instructor and music director for the Paul Green School of Rock. He really enjoys recording audio books on tape for the visually impaired.
