Another new act to hit the stage at Penn’s Peak, Jamey Johnson!!

He may look like a rebel with that long goatee and sometimes crazy hair, but appearances can be deceiving, and Jamey Johnson is actually a much disciplined ex-Marine….and an amazing songwriter….and a three time Grammy nominated country singer. He already has had quite an amazing career and he is just getting started! Jamey was not content just writing songs for others, even though he co-wrote the CMA and ACM 2007 Song Of The Year for George Strait, “Give It Away.” He has such a drive to sing and perform that he entered the recording studio and blazed through dozens of songs. Eventually, he emerged with his Gold selling album, That Lonesome Song. Performing comes naturally to Jamey. He was raised in a very musical home and was well versed in music theory when he was just in junior high school. His family was very devout, but he was known as quite the hellraiser, with the heart of a poet. He spent 8 years in the Marines after high school and right after being discharged, moved to Nashville to try to make a name for himself. In the years leading up to his debut album, That Lonesome Song, Jamey made quite a name for himself. He soon became known as the country music bad boy with rumors flying about him and his escapades. It was a combination of his divorce and his recording contract being scrapped that made him sit up and take notice. He went into seclusion for about a year and emerged with a renewed sense of self and purpose. This was when That Lonesome Song emerged and his career truly took off once again. He has been nominated for 3 Grammy Awards, 5 Academy of Country Music Awards, he won ACM’s Song of the Year honor for “In Color” and his album was certified as a Gold record.

Don’t miss country music’s bad boy, Jamey Johnson, at Penn’s Peak!!
