It has been a few years, but 38 Special is back at Penn’s Peak!!
More than two decades later and 100 plus shows per year, 38 Special continues to rock on. They are a band that was started in Florida by some neighborhood friends and by the 1980’s, they were showcasing the true Southern Rock sound. Their first charting song was 1981’s “Hold On Loosely,” while 1982’s “Caught Up In You” and 1983’s “If I’d Been The One” both hit #1 on Billboard magazine’s Album Rock Tracks chart. Even though it has been quite some time since their last album, they have been anything but dormant. Besides a demanding touring schedule, 38 Special wrote the complete score and also performed the music for the film Super Troopers. The song “Trooper With an Attitude” is from the Drivetrain CD and it first appeared in the film. They have also contributed a track to a Hank Williams Jr. tribute and recorded a Christmas album (2001). Speaking of Hank Williams Jr., 38 Special was the opening act on the 2007 Rowdy Frynds Tour which featured Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. The band filmed a CMT Crossroads Special with country singer Trace Adkins in 2008 and in 2009 38 Special opened for Reo Speedwagon and Styx on the Can’t Stop Rockin’ Tour. The current lineup consists of: Don Barnes, Donnie VanZant, Danny Chauncey, Larry Junstrom and Bobby Capps.
Come out to Penn’s Peak for a night of hard rockin’, in your face music from 38 Special!
