Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot – The Premiere Billy Joel Show and much more, is returning and this time around, they are featuring two long time members of Billy Joel’s band!!
Big Shot is committed to performing the most accurate reenactment of Billy Joel’s music. Their playing is so much like Billy Joel’s you will feel like you are experiencing a true Billy Joel Concert. Big Shot performs all of Billy Joel’s greatest hits and even some of the lesser known tunes that only a true die-hard would know and appreciate. The true Billy Joel fan will be blown away after experiencing Big Shot live. On any given night they will also astonish you with songs in their set from other artists like, Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Beatles, Journey, some others and songs from Michael’s original CDs.
True Billy Joel fans will be excited to know that this tour is featuring two members of Billy Joel’s band, Guitarist Tommy Byrnes and Drummer Chuck Burgi. Tommy has been with Billy for the last 23 years to present and Chuck has been Billy’s drummer since 2005. In addition Chuck is an original cast member for Billy’s Broadway musical Movin’ Out Band. While playing the final shows of Movin’ Out, Chuck was approached by Billy Joel to join him for a world tour. Since then, Chuck has continued performing sold out shows throughout the world with The Piano Man. Two amazing musicians that you will not want to miss!
Front man Mike DelGuidice, the well known Long Island Musician/ Singer/Songwriter has released 2 of his own original CDs, and when performing Billy Joel’s music is a dead ringer sound alike. The other members of the band are: John Scarpulla, sax, another original cast member of Billy’s Broadway Musical Movin Out band. John has toured with Michael Bolton, Hall & Oats, Diana Ross, Huey Lewis, Tower of Power, a bunch others and was part of the All Star Horn Section for Billy Joel’s Last Play at Shea Stadium Concerts. Nick Dimichino, the quintessential addition to the rhythm section, Nick is a member of the Band Nine Days who had a #1 hit song (This is a Story of a Girl) on bass, Carmine Giglio, who has also performed with Movin’ Out and the Trans Siberian Orchestra is on the keyboard and Mike Sorrentino, also part of the musical Movin’ Out, Spider Man, is on drums.
Tommy Byrnes ‐ Tommy Byrnes has been Billy Joel's guitarist and musical director for the past 21 years. He was key in helping Billy and Twyla Tharp create the Tony Award‐winning Broadway smash Movin' Out and served as the show's Musical Director during its long run. Tommy has toured and collaborated with rockabilly legend Brian Setzer (co‐writing Setzer's hard‐hitting "Barbwire Fence"). His further credits include artists as diverse as Enrique Inglesias and Joan Jett, and as a songwriter he's penned tunes for Mandy Moore and others.
Chuck Burgi – Drums - He is the brother of actor Richard Burgi. Burgi has played and toured with Al Di Meola, Hall and Oates, Brand X, Rainbow (twice), Blue Öyster Cult, Meat Loaf, Fandango and Enrique Iglesias and has recorded with numerous other artists, including Bon Jovi and Diana Ross. Burgi was a member of the on-stage band in the Twyla Tharp - Billy Joel hit musical Movin' Out during the entire 3½ year run on Broadway.
Since November 2005, Chuck has been Joel's drummer, touring extensively, including 12 record breaking shows at New York's Madison Square Garden in 2006, 2008's double night "Last Play at Shea" and the October 2008 New York Springsteen/Joel benefit for Barack Obama at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
